Renewables and Biomimicry

While acting as Program Manager for Training Programs for the NC Clean Energy Technology Center at NC State University  the  Renewable Energy Technologies Diploma Series  I managed was awarded the following:

IREC Clean Energy Training Provider of the Year

The IREC 3i Award is a prestigious national award within the renewable energy industry that celebrates forward-thinking individuals, programs and institutions that display innovation, ingenuity and inspiration. On October 22, the Center’s Training Program was presented the national  Clean Energy Training Provider of the Yearaward by the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) during  the 3i Forum at the Solar Power International conference in Las Vegas, NV.
“With these awards we recognize innovative solutions to solving tough problems; we salute the ingenuity of those who think outside the box to advance the use of clean energy; and we thank those who inspire others to make a difference,” said IREC Board Chair David Warner.
“The Renewable Energy Technologies Diploma Series program has been a leader in interdisciplinary and comprehensive renewable energy training for a decade,” said Steve Kalland, Executive Director of the N.C. Clean Energy Technology Center.  “We’ve always known that as a Center, we have been the hub of quality continuing education in the nation. It feels good to be recognized not just by the City of Raleigh and our state peers at NCSEA, but by a national organization like IREC. We’ve worked hard for this.” The Renewable Energy Technology Diploma Series is the flagship training program of the Center. It celebrated its 10th year anniversary in 2014.

 
Community Leadership Award

The North Carolina Sustainable Energy Association (NCSEA),  recognizes nine business leaders, community members, policymakers and organizations for their ongoing contributions to elevating North Carolina’s role as a clean energy leader through its annual Clean Energy Awards. Presented annually since 2005, the NCSEA Clean Energy Awards highlight leaders who demonstrate outstanding willingness to commit time, effort and leadership to expanding North Carolina’s clean energy portfolio and enhancing job growth and economic investments throughout the state. On October 1, 2014, the Center’s Training Programs received the NC Sustainable Energy Association’s Award for Community Leadership for its Renewable Energy Technologies Diploma Series program their annual Making Energy work Conference.

 
 



City of Raleigh Sustainability Award

On April 22, the City of Raleigh recognized individuals and organizations committed to preserving and improving the environment at its seventh annual Environmental Awards celebration.  The N.C. Clean Energy Technology Center’s Training Programs received the local City of Raleigh Regional Sustainability Awardfor its decades-long efforts in developing the clean energy workforce that has helped make North Carolina one of the top states nationally in solar capacity
